Sophomore Cade Hannan (Moline, Ill./Moline) fired a three-hit shutout to lead the Carl Sandburg College baseball team to a 13-0 victory in six innings over Quinsigamond (Mass.) on Monday morning as the Chargers (3-3) continued their Spring Break trip.
Sandburg Star of the Game
Hannan faced just one batter over the minimum to record his first career victory, shutout and complete game as a Charger. The left-hander allowed just three singles, induced a pair of double plays and got some help from catcher Kevin Ulrich (Benson, Ill./Roanoke-Benson), who threw out a pair of base-stealers. Hannan struck out a career-best six and didn’t issue a walk over 71 pitches (48 strikes).
Key Moment
Freshman Antonio Dominguez (Rock Island, Ill./United Township) got the Chargers on the board in the first inning with a two-out single to center that unloaded the bases for a 3-0 lead. Sandburg added two more runs in the second and busted the game open with a seven-run sixth.
